Oliver Peter studied Molecular Biology at University of Zurich, and graduated there on a topic of Molecular Developmental Genetics. After a two-year postdoc project at the University of Pennsylvania, he joined the Biotech startup company Axovan AG, Allschwil (Switzerland) in 2001, to lead the High Throughput Screening (HTS) lab. When Axovan was acquired by Actelion Pharmaceuticals AG in 2004, he became responsible for the early phase of several drug discovery projects. In 2008 he built up the HTS & Compound Management Group, and has been serving as its leader since.

With his team, Oliver Peter designed and implemented Actelion’s integrated hardware and software environment for screening and compound logistics for preclinial research. In 2012, he set up the Actelion Research Biobank, including a software environment to manage studies, samples, and results, to support translational science across the organization.

Oliver Peter helped founding the Standardization in Laboratory Automation (SiLA) consortium and has been serving as a member of it’s board since 2012.
